0717: Mmm, Mmm, Margiela

Faux fur vest from LF Boutique in Soho
MM6 Maison Martin Margiela dress from Aritzia
Vera Wang wedges
Chic Swapped socks from The Little Dust Princess

Introducing, the first results of my foray into at home hair dye. You can kind of tell, right?

I never thought I would own anything Margiela, but when I saw this dress at Aritzia on sale I couldn't say no. I could NOT say no. There are only so many times when you come across designer steals and you just can't take a chance by walking away. Well some people might have more self-control than me but as far as I am concerned, you CANNOT walk away.

I'm not at all brand-centric as far as my style is concerned. I like to mix and match high-end pieces with low-end pieces, but one thing about me is that I either buy REALLY high-end or REALLY low-end. Meaning, I will splurge for Margiela and spend hours thrifting for $1 skirts, but I really dislike shopping at places like Ross or Marshall's. It has to be one extreme or the other.

I've been working hard over the past couple of years to really edit my closet down to pieces that I will keep forever. Those are the only things that are really worth the money - whether it's a dollar or a hundred.

I'm sort of the same when it comes to shopping, though I do shop at major retailers. I love thrifting, but when I see designer steal, I won't pass that up!

By the way..ARE THOSE THE SOCKS I SENT YOU?! hahah niceee ; )

Oh my gosh! I seriously love this! The dress and the vest are perfect together! :) I've never been into fur really until now seeing bloggers wear some and with all of the runways and editorials. I am in LOVE with your wedges. The dress is such a pretty color and looks really soft.

Thanks for your sweet comment! :)

I'm glad there is another person that CANNOT say no to purchasing certain items. I try to explain it to by boyfriend and he is always comes back with some witty remark such as, "you can say no you just don't want to", but that's not it at all. I seriously CANNOT say no, it's probably some sign of a shopping addiction but like you said, most of my closet is filled with excellent thrift finds so when I splurge on a piece it's always something I know I will keep forever.

On a side note, I used to work at LF stores in Laguna Beach years ago. It's so crazy to see all of these collaborations they have with designers now. I wish I still was able to get my discount (which by the way was a ridiculous discount, I'm talking over 60% off).

I shop the same way. It's either feast of famine, splurge or scrimp. Everything in between seems wrong.

Now, give me the wedges...so what if they won't fit. Those are bawse.

I love the new changes you've made to your blog. I think you have a very fearless style, which I admire and appreciate. I live in the tendernob, Geary and Taylor and I know some of my friend who are too scared to be on Geary or south of Geary and I'm like... whatever! At my old apartment, someone was shot right across from me last year... that was kind of insane! I hope you don't live in the heart or near the heart of the TL!

I completely agree with you on balancing a career and I guess love/relationship. I'm just going through a transitional period, where love/relationship no longer exists in my life, so I want to concentrate on pursuing the career I want. And it seems like it's the season of breakups and it's making me more cynical every day... boo. Well I hope one day we can all find the balance we need and deserve.

Yes please let's meet for lunch sometime :)

So that vest is KILLING ME. Totally a chic version of Mr. Snuffleupagus (from Sesame Street). Love love love it. And the wedges...oh the wedges. I need to find some slightly life-threatening wedges, stat.
