0701: I'll stay with you. Walls will fall before we do.

Thrifted skirt
AKIRA shirt
Dolce Vita wedges

Was supposed to be going home this weekend, but since I got sick, Mommy doesn't want me flying again. I love that she still treats me like her baby even though I'm 22, across the country, with a real job.

0629: Save Some Face, You Know You've Only Got One

Wearing a thrifted skirt I got for $1.50! OBSESSED with maxi skirts
Vintage Coach I got for $10
a Thrifted Bill Blass scarf I got for 90 cents!

I'm back from Chicago! What. A. Trip.

I must have caught something on the trip there because by the fourth day, I was feeling like shit. Fever, sore throat, a bit of a cough. Terrible but made it through the week without passing out, which for a whole day was my only goal. Well actually, I had two: 1) Don't vomit. 2) Don't pass out. These are really lofty goals for a sick person.

Caught up with one of my very good friends there. Always good to see him.

Was literally sandwiched between my two worst nightmares on the plane ride back: An old guy that thinks he has game and won't shut the hell up on one side and crying toddlers on the other. To be honest, the old guy was way more annoying.

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when people ask me where I'm from and I'll tell you why: I was born in Chicago and raised in Florida. I only speak English and can't even understand any one of the hundred Filipino dialects that exist. I eat American food and actually detest most types of Asian cuisine.

So when someone starts a conversation with "So where are you from?" and I answer, "Florida," I fucking mean it. It REALLY pisses me off when they go, "No, but where are you from?" FUCKING AMERICA YOU ASSHOLE.

And I KNOW the only reason they're asking me is because 1) I'm not white and 2) they CAN'T WAIT to impress me with all the shit they know about Asians. Let me just make it clear that anything anyone knows about Asians is probably already 10x more than I know. And for the damn record, I could be Native American for all these people know.

IT IS SO OFFENSIVE when people ask me that and don't believe me when I tell them I'm American. And the guy next to me on the plane had the audacity to say "No but, you're clearly not from here." I CLEARLY FUCKING AM YOU ASSHOLE.

Ugh. Anyway, next time someone asks me where I'm from, I'm straight up telling them I'm a fucking Native American. Go ahead, TELL ME ALL THE SHIT YOU KNOW ABOUT NATIVE AMERICANS.

Okay. I'm done ranting. I'm going to make a guide on "How to Approach a Girl if You Actually Want a Date"

0621: I'm in Chicago!

I'm currently in Chicago preparing for our event with Akira Chicago (it's free, so if you're in Chicago you better be there!) but I snapped these pictures while I was still in San Francisco because I was excited about the dress I Chic Swapped. I'm pretty excited about this new feature since I was just thinking about how OVER PRICED vintage is these days. I really enjoy just going to a Goodwill or Salvation Army and spending $2.50 on a great dress. Chic Swap will hopefully be in the same vain as a great clothing swap with friends.

I'm not exactly Erin Wasson's biggest fan but when I saw this dress I had to have it. I can appreciate a good print every now and then.

In Chicago for the week. So happy to be catching up with my friends here! I made some of my best friends when I lived here in 2008. Happy to see them again =)

0618: Seeing

"...not only does the universe have its own laws, all of them indifferent to the contradictory dreams and desires of humanity, but everything seems to indicate that it uses these laws for aims and objectives that transcend and always will transcend our understanding... if we find this difficult to accept in the light of the most elementary distributive justice, prudence warns us to suspend for the moment any difinitive judgement and to watch with unquestioning attention how events, which have only just begun to unfold, develop."

- Jose Saramago, Seeing

RIP. One of my favorite authors.

0617: Pioneers! O Pioneers!

O you youths, Western youths,
So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship,
Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the foremost,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

I too with my soul and body,
We, a curious trio, picking, wandering on our way,
Through these shores amid the shadows, with the apparitions pressing,
Pioneers! O pioneers!

Excerpt from Walt Whitman, Pioneers! O pioneers!

0614: How can I endure the Earth?

I think I can remember
being dead. Many times, in winter,
I approached Zeus. Tell me, I would ask him,
how can I endure the earth?

0612: Sometimes I'm Off

0609: Don't call my name, I'm not your babe.

I hate pigeons. I hate all birds. I hate horses too but I don't often get them stampeding at me. Birds, particularly pigeons, on the other hand come in droves and fly at me at the most inconvenient times. Not that any time is convenient to have a bird attack you. One flew at me on this day, but unfortunately I only got pictures of me laughing at the aftermath.

I received this Rory Beca skirt from the designer. It fits so well and the fabric is so delicate. I had to balance the femininity with something a little more tough like a denim vest - which by the way I've already worn multiples times in the span of a week. I just can't seem to get over my vest love. I know it's all like, 2008 or whatever, but I have way too many that I love so they're not going anywhere.

Took my Vera Wang wedges out for another spin. I have yet to fall in them (#success). I've actually rolled my ankle multiple times in my Dolce Vita wedges which are like... a third the height of these things.

Anyway, wth am I talking about?

The Trashicist, one of my favorite New York bloggers, has an interesting post up about Fashion and Blogging. I've certainly shared her sentiments before. I appreciate The Trashicist because she's one of the few bloggers whose blog isn't about consumerism and what new thing everyone should be buying. For her, it really is about expressing her view. I like NODI$COUNT for this reason as well.

I get tired of reading fashion blogs too, but at the end of the day, none of it is that serious. All that matters is to stay lighthearted and take it all in stride.

0606: Shrimp Sundays

I was going to call this "Lazy Sunday" but Shrimp Sunday seemed more appropriate as I've got a pretty gnarly craving for shrimp which has manifested itself into Shrimp Chips and tonight's attempt at Shrimp Scampi Pasta. You should know that I don't cook and that this will probably end in disaster.

Wearing Alternative Apparel Tank, Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Pur Lipgloss in #3 over NARS Lipstick in Blonde Venus.

0604: Shooz

I've been wanting these wedges since February and I finally got my hands on a pair on sale at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale. I walked home in them today, which is about six blocks and didn't fall. We call that success.

Began venturing into the world of lipsticks and really love YSL Rouge Volupte in #14. I think that's my new obsession: lipsticks.

Oh and speaking of obsessions, I listened to this song five times in a row today:

<3 Selena Gomez more than is appropriate at 22.

0603: Random Photos from the Weekend

0601: The Weekend Continues

My sister left me early this morning =(
Had so much fun with her while she was here.

Spent Sunday in Golden Gate Park doing super nerdy things like visiting the California Academy of Science and looking at pretty fish and an albino alligator whose skin I would like to see on a purse because I'm a terrible omnivore like that.

Then walked around the lake next to the Exploratorium and took pictures in the neighborhood because the houses were beautiful.

It was nice to get out of downtown and see some green but truthfully, I couldn't wait to get back into the bustling city. I don't know how anyone could live in the suburbs. When I have a family, I would love to be in a house with a huge lawn with hills (for the 4-wheelers I will get). But for now, I like my downtown living.

Spent Monday shopping and taking a foggy boat tour in the Bay. Capped off the night with some ginger ale and tv.

I was reminded this weekend how much I miss my family and best friends back home. I try not to get too open on this thing because I get severely creeped out when people google me or ask about personal things in my life because they read a blog. But I will say that I miss everyone back home.

My sister =)
